A Sneak Peak Of The New Nobu Hotel, NYC...

6/12

Nobu, the well-known Japanese restaurant owned by celebrity chef Nobuyuki "Nobu" Matsuhisa, actor Robert De Niro, and producer Meir Teper, is opening its first ever hotel in Las Vegas. I went to a special sneak peak on Sunday evening at the original Nobu in Tribeca where Matsuhisa, De Niro and Teper unveiled a glimpse inside the rooms and a taste of the menu. Set to open at the end of the year (they'll start accepting reservations in October), Nobu Hotel will be connected to Caesars Palace, taking over its Centurion Tower and creating its very own 180-room boutique hotel complete with a 12,775 square-foot Nobu restaurant and, my personal favorite, 24-hour Nobu room service. Trust me when I say, from what I sampled Sunday night, you'll want to check-in as soon as possible. Rooms start at $300.

The hotel is designed by architect, David Rockwell. Here, a glimpse inside one of the East-meets-West-inspired rooms, which features custom calligraphy on the wall.

Hello, Room Service?: The hotel's 24-hour menu includes sushi and Japanese bento boxes. YUM!

A traditional Japanese breakfast would include a bento box of cooked fish, vegetables and other small side dishes, like below. In America, it's more like lunch or breakfast. To me, it's like heaven!

Shout out to my friend, Jed Wexler, for inviting us. (From left) Crazy Legs, moi, Jed Wexler and Thea Anderson.

The goodie bag included treats that will be available in the hotel's minibar (chocolate pocky, wild poppy blood chili orange juice and, of course, Nobu sake), luxury bath products from Natura Bisse, scented sleep oil and a mini down pillow topped with chopsticks.

Spain in May

I had the pleasure of spending 9 fabulous days traveling in Andalusia and Madrid for my birthday and am happy to report that I am back and inspired! There is so much charm and beauty everywhere, from the narrow cobblestone streets (some of them more like alleys) to the Moorish architecture to the colorful aged walls. And the food...!
Here, a few things I became obsessed with:

Wrought Iron Window Frames and Balconies
From Madrid to Marbella, it's classic Spanish style. Everywhere I went I was constantly looking up at the beautiful black iron window frames and balconies.

Bougainvillea
SO beautiful! It grows everywhere and its brilliant color looks so amazing against the white walls and old architecture.

Moorish Tiles in Seville
If you ever visit Seville, you have to go to The Real Alcázar, a royal palace that was originally a Moorish fort and is still used today by the royal family as the official Seville residence. Touristy? Yes. Worth it? HELL YES! It is one of the best and most beautiful examples of Mudéjar architecture (traditional Moorish style with Romanesque and Gothic elements). I fell in love with the colorful tiles, with their geometric and floral patterns, that blanketed the walls and ceilings and am already dreaming up ideas for my own home with my new found inspiration! (If only it could be as grand...)

I love this photo because it's exactly what you do when you're touring the palace—look up (and down and all around). From floor to ceiling, there is detail and ornateness everywhere!

Just one example of a tiled ceiling.

Doors
From the Moors to doors...There is something about them that intrigued me. They're mysterious—entrances to the unknown—and each one has it's own distinct personality.

Of course I became obsessed with the food. Who couldn't? But that's a whole other post...Hasta la próxima (until next time)!
